FURNACES

All heating systems should be serviced every one to two years. Such maintenance will ensure safe and efficient operation. Armstrong Air Furnace

Oil furnaces should be serviced every year. Weyer & Sons offers a service to remind you when it is time for your next clean and check.

Battelle Laboratories in Columbus, OH tested various heat exchanger material to determine which would be best suited for long life in an acidic, condensate atmosphere as experienced in a "90 Plus" AFUE rated gas furnace.

The very best practical material, tested was stainless steel. The least desirable material tested was cold rolled steel and aluminized steel fell somewhere in between.

Armstrong "90 Plus" furnaces utilize stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchanges and we wouldn't accept anything else.

AIR CONDITIONERS

To ensure safe and efficient operation, cooling systems should be serviced every one to two years.

Heil Air Conditioner

Common warning signs that your air-conditioning needs to be replaced:

  • Age of A/C unit (average life span is 10-15 years).
  • Does it seem to take longer and longer to cool your house?
  • Do you hear unusual noises coming from the outside unit?
  • Are your electric bills increasing at a greater rate than the normal electric company rate increases?

Each air conditioning unit has its own Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating or S.E.E.R., which can help you determine the total cost of operation. The higher the S.E.E.R. the more efficient the unit, S.E.E.R. ratings range from 13.0 to 16.0.

By 2010 all manufacturers must make the switch from Freon to another refrigerant. Weyer & Sons already uses the new refrigerant brand name called "Forane."

The overall cost of a new A/C unit installation will vary depending on the furnace air capacity, return air locations, and fuse box capacity and size of the unit. Prices can start as low as $1900 and can go as high as $3500 for the top of the line, High S.E.E.R. models.
