HEATING
My furnace isn't heating, what can I do?
- You can try to reset the furnace by turning the power switch off, wait 1 minute then turn the switch back on. Or you can turn the thermostat to the lowest setting, wait 10 seconds then turn the thermostat back up. The furnace should restart itself.
COOLING
My A/C unit isn't cooling, what should I do?
- First check to see if the outside unit is running and is clear of debris. You can also check to see if the breaker is tripped. If your outside unit is running but not cooling please call us to schedule an appointment.

When not in use, can I use a cover for my outside unit?
- We recommend that you don't use a cover. Using a cover makes it a perfect home for animals that can do real damage to your unit. Air conditioners are designed to withstand changes in the weather.

The air in my home is so dry. Why?
- When the air is heated, its relative humidity plummets. It strips moisture from the air, your body and your skin.

How does the Aprilaire humidifier work to control the humidity?
- Aprilaire's first automatic humidifiers can generate up to 50% more moisture. It provides greater comfort and preservation than other humidifiers. Aprilaire with Auto-Trac monitors the outdoor temperature and automatically adjusts the humidifier to ensure that it provides your home with the optimum relative humidity. Aprilaire's principle is quite simple: First humidity is added to the dry air that comes from your heating system and then it's distributed through ventilation ducts and into your home. The water is converted to a pure vapor form, with no mist or droplets. These tend to carry impurities. These humidifiers are nearly maintenance free, contain no reservoirs to fill, drain, or clean, and have a flow-through design. All you have to do is set the control at a level that is comfortable for you, and the Aprilaire humidifier will adjust the humidity level automatically. It is the most effective and easiest way to distribute humidified air to every room in your home.

When I draw hot water there is a knocking sound from the water heater. After the cold water has filled the tank, it naturally stops. Is this a dangerous situation?
- No, the noise is not dangerous. Your gas water heater has sediment built up on the bottom of the tank and prevents efficient heat transfer from the flame to the tank to the water.
When you draw hot water, cold water displaces hot water until the burner lights. When the flame is re-heating the water, the sediment insulates the bottom on the tank and hinders good heat transfer. Some of the water at the bottom boils and the steam bubble rises up in the tank. When the steam bubble hits cooler water it turns back into water with a muffled "pop" or "rumble."
There is little you can do to correct the situation. Draining the tank will just remove loose particles - It will not remove the sediment that is attached to the bottom of the tank. Many home improvement books suggest draining and flushing the tank to remove sediment, but this is rarely effective. The sediment is the same material that builds up around fixtures - simple flushing will not remove it.
Most people just live with this noise and it is a very common problem.

How does the Space-Guard Air Cleaner work to ensure clean air in my home?
- The Space-Guard High Efficiency Air Cleaner utilizes a simple and effective HEPA-type filtering media that actually improves its particulate-capturing capability the longer it is used. The filter unit is attached to your heating or cooling system. There it seizes pollutants from conditioned air before being distributed to rooms in your home. Depending on your type of furnace, there are two models of filters available. The model 2200 is adaptable to up flow or horizontal duct configurations. The new model 2400 is great for use in platform or closet installations. It is also great for shorter furnaces.
